The Cancer Awareness Selfie

This is a little bit of a more serious post than my usual purchase , but its a topic pretty close to my heart. As you've all probably noticed , the 'no makeup selfie' is sweeping across Facebook to promote cancer awareness, as well as the criticism of 'what does a selfie really help'. I won't lie , I kind of agree with the latter point but when I was nominated I just couldn't escape it. Cancer is something that lies close in my heart because it truly took hold of my family a number of times with my grandma ,she lost her battle with an awful disease and it truly has changed me as a person. I'm all about raising money for a good cause , I even managed to raise £500 doing a bungee jump for a local hospice that helped us cope and lately I'm toying with the idea of raising money by shaving my head.
So with my selfie - I also attached the message donate £3 by texting BEAT to 70099 and i urge you all to do the same. Heres my no makeup selfie. Lets help beat cancer sooner

Spring is here - beauty

Well Spring is finally here and the sunshine is pretty glorious in Newcastle , and whenever the suns out I always have the overwhelming sense to start looking after my presentation a bit more , eat a bit healthier , even exercise a little bit more! Off i went to boots and since its 3 for 2 i bought 2 products:

-Garnier Micellar cleansing water  £4.98 - everyone seems to be on about it so I joined the hype too ( it also helped that i really needed a new cleanser after sleeping for a eek in my makeup) anyways , I understand what the hype was about, it is just gentle , no stinging eyes or lips , it just takes everything off! A Great cleanser , I followed it with my usual Kiehls cleanser and oh lord my skin is just so so so soft now and i haven't even moisturised yet!

-Dove Summer glow £4.98 ( his also half price at super drug atm but since i was doing 3 for 2 it worked out cheaper) In our house I'm the palest of them all and I really don't usually go for fake tans because I honestly think people just get a bit too fake tan happy. Buttttt i'm really missing my ibiza tan from last summer , I want to keep my subbed use to a minimum for my health and to top it off my housemates been using this and she looks AMAZING , i can't overemphasise how golden she looks , she also promised it was super easy to put on with a no streak effect.  Ive just applied it and it doesn't smell too bad ( still that tiny hint of biscuits) it is a little bit tacky so give yourself plenty of time to apply, it seems to be super moisturising but we'll have to wait and see what colour i come out! ( You can also get a lighter version for you super pale girls out there

-Balmi lipbalm (in mint flavour) this was kind of an impulse extra as my lips are in awful condition from all the matte lipsticks i wear , I grabbed the mint flavour and gave it a whirl and I'm nor sure how i feel about it - I kind of wish i bough coconut or raspberry if I'm honest although it does give a nice tingle. I'd say it's a little bit greasy , nothing on carmex and I probably won't buy again but I will use it regardless!

More treats for me

I told myself for every 3lb I lost I could treat myself to new clothes (very good motivation to go the gym if I say so myself). Lately I've suffered from a stomach ulcer , cut down my food to cope with it and boom i lost 6lb , probably because I've replaced one meal a day with a super healthy smoothie which is also filling, so anyways - two treats for me!

I chose the topshop all sorts boots (£45) because i've wanted them for ages, and some comfy treggings from topshop in a poppy print (£28) (side note if you're interested in these definitely size DOWN , they're huge on the waist!

Assignment treat!

So today was an excellent day for me! I've got back to work childminding , followed by 700 calories worth of sweating in the gym (I'm sure i'll be telling you all about my new health kick soon) then I ventured into university to pick up an assignment and holy shit was i dreading it. I've had a bit of a roller coaster with my marks this year which isn't good enough for final year to be honest. So i definitely felt nervous for this one! But praise the lord , I picked it up and got 75% a first! In an utter fantastic mood with myself I headed into town to treat myself (only primark treats though since I have £35 left till Thursday) .
I already kind of knew what I had in my mind thanks to a wonderful girl on instagram (@Charlottefischer btw) and my new found love for co-ord sets. Enter the primark version - only £25 and could probably just about pass as a topshop version.
Let me know what you think!

Payday treats

Payday came around last week for me and lord did i go on a blow out
I decided to treat myself to:
Urban decay naked palette 2 (£37)
Urban outfitters tartan skirt (£15 in the sale )
Urban outfitters slubby jumper (£10 in the sale) ps it pictures terribly !

And what do I think ?
Basically I'm in love with the naked 2 palette , although the rosy tones of the 3 was close to tempting me , both me and the shop assistant decided that the 2 was probably better for my skin tone , more diverse and a good place to start with a palette. I try and use it everyday ( coming from a girl who never wears eyeshadow) , and I love experimenting with the looks that I can get, in fact i'll probably do a post on it pretty soon!

The urban outfitters tartan skirt just feels so on trend right now , and it was in the sale which is always great. The only problem I have with this skirt is me , it fits pretty nice and it sits just above the hip which I love , but it is pretty short on my 6ft 1 frame. I know that if I was wearing shorts then i'd wear shorter than this skirt but I don't think i'm confident enough to go out wearing it casually in the day yet ( maybe wearing the right shoes I could deal with it)

The urban outfitters slubby jumper was also in the sale and i bought it specifically to go with the skirt , its quite cropped , super comfy but as you can see pictures terribly and it clicks quite easily ( although  I knew that it would when i bought it

Any opinions ? Been on a payday splurge ?

Kimono lovin'

Im not really sure what it is with me and my style at the moment but I have intense love for kimonos.
It may be because I can finally imagine Summer coming and they're perfect to throw on or maybe its because they're in the sale. Anyways I bought these two little beauties from topshop - one the definition of summer with its vibrancy and the other one a little more dark , gothic and intricate.

Topshop reduced from around 50 to £20+ student discount

Such a pretty pretty thang, from 55 to £20 + student discount

What do you think , anything you're hyping over at the moment ?

City girl - LONDON

Recently i got the opportunity to go to London for a really exciting opportunity - an interview to be an au pair in America! My friend Lauren also had a training day in London on the Thursday too so we decided to go Wednesday and make a trip of it

Cue disaster
I eagerly woke up on Wednesday morning to find a text off Lauren telling me that she'd actually booked the wrong day for the hotel, although it was an obstacle number one ,we quickly rang the hotel and the kind lady at the desk sorted it out for us.
Then the second obstacle came head on - Lauren was stuck in Middlesbrough when our train was in Newcastle , I quickly told her to make her way to Darlington where the train stopped anyways , and when she confirmed she was en route to Darlo I relaxed a bit... all ready I made my way to the train station collected the tickets and settled down on the train ready to go , sorting out the tickets I realised  that I'd booked the wrong time train - the 9.29 one instead of the 10:25 i was currently sat on. PANIC.  So i quickly rushed to the front of the train to see the guard , explained how everything had went majorly wrong , fortunately he was super kind , told me it wasn't a busy train and to take a seat anyways . PHEW . Things were finally sorted until we realised that there was actually a tube strike on so entering London was pretty daunting since I've only ever used the tube. Dun dun dunnnn - aside from all that we actually managed alright and ill give you a quick overview of what we did

Arrived in London
Managed to get the tube to Oxford Street
Shopped in the mega ass topshop (beautiful place)
Walked down oxford street shopping
Made our way to our hotel in Kensington
Went out for dinner
Went to the pub , met a spanish man who would not stop buying us tequila - proceeded to get extremely drunk and stumbled back to our hotel

Day 2 - Interview day
I had already pre planned my outfit topshop treggings (tall) (£25) , the beautiful white oxford shirt from topshop that i got in the sale (£15) , my black doc marten chelsea boots (£80) , zara black bag (£60) , urban outfitters navy coat (mentioned in a previous post) (£27), topshop pork pie hat (£25). All pictured below

Getting to bloody tunbridge wells was a feat in itself - long story short i ended up on a tour bus (i'm an idiot ) where the driver was extremely kind and helped me get to charing cross.
My interview was great ( i got it )
I came back we went to camden to mooch through the market , grabbed a slice of pizza and went for a few drinks in Amy Winehouse's local.
We then made our way back to central London where we went and looked at a Banksy piece (Lauren loves him) after this we made our way home.

Wow i feel exhausted just writing that.
But honestly i feel London is such a thriving place , i'm in love with it and I'm really hoping to live there for a couple of years when i'm back from America. I think ill be happy when i can master the tube!

Side note- Ive always held the belief that southerners might be a little bit unfriendly but holy shit was i proved wrong, every single person that I encountered on our trip went out their way to help me and one stranger even came up to me just to say ' you're so beautiful'. I wouldn't of got anywhere without all of their help. c ya soon LANDAN
